We love sports, but don’t call us fans. Unlike ‘fans’, we stand in the rains and the sun alike just to catch a glimpse of our heroes – just a sight on the TV set doesn’t work for us . We stay up all night AND wake up before dawn to watch and root for our favourite teams and still show up to work later to gloat. Watching highlights is a big deal breaker for our kind. We shed tears, be it of joy or despair, when our teams win or lose. We stick to our loyalties, especially in difficult times. We don’t abandon our allegiance and jump ship when our favourite sides are down in the dumps. We put all our responsibilities aside and banter with our type, like our lives depend on it. Fans simply follow a sport; we eat, sleep and breathe. We’re not fans. We are Funatic! We’re a bunch of die-hard sports enthusiasts who aim at breaking the monotony of the sports merchandising industry and creating quirky gear which will let you celebrate your passion and wear your heart on your sleeve.

Zaheer Ghani [Co-founder]

After representing his school  in basketball, handball and shot putt at the State Level, Zaheer graduated from Jai Hind College, Mumbai with a BA in Economics and Commerce. He is actively involved in the management of his family owned hotel in Lavasa. When not managing his business which involves consultancy and software solutions in the retail and hospitality sector across the globe, Zaheer continues to shoot hoops at a professional club level in Mumbai. Zaheer heads the business development arm of Funatic and constantly feels the need to expand, just like the sports diaspora in the country.  He bleeds purple and gold and thinks Kobe Bryant was the second coming of the messiah himself.

Ankit Parekh [Co-founder]

A sports aficionado since his childhood, Ankit was fascinated by American sports while completing his graduation in Mechanical Engineering and Entrepreneurship from Temple University, Philadelphia. After returning to the homeland, he worked at Essar Power before founding Funatic with his friends as a passion project. At present, he handles the creative arm of the business and tries to connect with likeminded sports fans in the process. He considers Michael Schumacher to be his idol and supports the Italian National Football team with fervour. In his opinion, there hasn’t been a better left-handed batsman than Sourav Ganguly.

 Anand Vora [Mentor and Co-promoter]

While he’s not busy crunching numbers during the day, you’d find Anand involved in a quick game of badminton at the local gymkhana. A CA, CFA, and IIM-A MDP by qualification, he has over 20 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Investment and CSR initiatives. An avid trekker, Anand adores the Himalayas and finds solace in the mountains to preserve his zen-like nature. In the contemporary times, he admires the way Rahul Dravid and M.S. Dhoni conduct themselves on the pitch and finds motivation in the sporty wisdom imparted by the all-time greats like Yogi Berra and Michael Jordan.
